About Marie Barrus Lundahl

Marie Barrus Lundahl, 75, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, in Mesa, Arizona, surrounded by her daughter Jessica, her son Tyler, and her daughter-in-law Sonja.

Marie was born on September 8, 1950, in Logan, Utah, to Marvin and Elsie Barrus. She grew up with her sisters Shirley Berntson (deceased), Shauna Smith, Marilyn Smith, Denise Christensen, and Jean Navarro.

She attended Logan High School and Utah State University, earning a degree in teaching. She later worked as a social worker for BRAG in Logan, Utah, where she was able to do what she loved—helping people. After moving to Arizona to be near her children, she went back to school for medical coding, building a career she was proud of until retiring in 2013. She wore her signature red scrubs with confidence and spark.

Marie married Chris Lundahl, and they were blessed with two children, Jessica and Tyler. Even after their marriage ended, their love for their children remained constant. She was a devoted and caring mother, and her children were the greatest joy of her life. Her devotion to her family never wavered, and she shared a close and meaningful bond with her daughter-in-law, Sonja.

She cherished her grandchildren, Hailey Lundahl, Dason Morris, Logan Lundahl, and Braden Lundahl (deceased). They were the precious jewels in her crown, and she treasured every moment spent with them. Her grandchildren brought her endless joy, and she took great delight in their laughter, milestones, and everyday moments.

Marie also had a special place in her heart for dogs, showing them the same loyalty, care, and warmth she shared with her family. She noticed them, understood them, and loved them deeply. The softness she showed toward them reflected who she truly was.

Known for her sharp wit and quick humor, Marie had a playful way of teasing those she loved. Her humor was always rooted in loyalty, protectiveness, and deep affection.

Marie will be remembered for her strength, resilience, devotion to family, and unapologetic authenticity. She will be deeply missed, fiercely remembered, and forever loved.
